Compassion in Action:
Driving Support for the SPCA of Texas
with Passion and Heart
Kathy and Jim Hopper share a deep love for
animals—a bond that has shaped their lives
and continues to inspire their e昀昀orts to make
a di昀昀erence in the lives of animals in need.
From their childhoods, when pets were always
considered part of the family, to their present-day
commitment to ensuring animals in need 昀椀nd
loving homes, the Hopper’s shared passion has
been a guiding force in everything they do.
The Hopper’s belief in the SPCA of Texas’ work was
only strengthened as they learned more about the
organization’s e昀昀orts to save animals from abuse
and neglect, o昀昀er essential services to families,
and give pets new and loving homes.
For Kathy, the drive to help animals has always
been an integral part of her life. “People can take
care of themselves, but animals can’t,” she says.
“I have a so昀琀 heart when it comes to animals that
need help.” Growing up, Kathy had a dog named
Tubby who would loyally run alongside her bike
when she visited friends, a memory that has stayed
with her throughout her life. Jim, too, shares this
deep-seated compassion. His childhood dog,
Maggie, was a constant companion, and together
with Kathy, they’ve fostered a home where animals
are more than just pets—they are family, each
receiving the love and care they deserve.
Their passion for animals extends beyond the
Hopper’s home and into their community, where
they found a like-minded partner in the SPCA of
Texas. Kathy and Jim both believe that “a house
isn’t a home without a pet,” and this philosophy
has driven their support for the organization’s
mission to rescue, protect, and 昀椀nd homes for
animals in need.
Their connection to the SPCA of Texas began
with a simple yet meaningful gesture—a
heartfelt thank you note in response to their
initial generous donation. “The notecard was
so cute I couldn’t ignore it,” Kathy recalls
fondly. That small act of gratitude led to an
even stronger relationship between the
Hoppers and the organization. For Kathy and
Jim, the personal connection made all the
di昀昀erence. It is a reminder that sometimes,
it is the seemingly small things—the words of
appreciation of a donor’s support—that are
really a big deal that inspire and deepen the
connection.
A昀琀er all, the SPCA of Texas’ work would not
be possible without the ongoing support of
individuals like the Hoppers who share a
passion for animals. Whether it is rescuing
animals in need, providing critical services,
or o昀昀ering a second chance to pets, their
contributions help ensure the organization
can continue its lifesaving mission.

For Kathy and Jim, it is not just about giving—
it is about being part of something bigger. It is
about knowing that their support is helping to
create a better world for animals and the
people who love them. Their story is a
powerful reminder that compassion and
generosity can truly change lives.
